Alyssa Provencio, Ph.D., associate professor of political science and director of downtown strategy and community partnerships at the University of Central Oklahoma, has been selected as a 2025-26 Hispanic Association of College and Universities (HACU) fellow of its Leadership Academy/La Academia de Liderazgo.
Provencio joins the seventh cohort of the program, which prepares participants for leadership roles in higher education institutions, with an emphasis on Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs) and Emerging HSIs. The one-year fellowship program includes webinars and three seminars.
“I’m honored to be selected for La Academia de Liderazgo. The opportunity is both a privilege and a responsibility,” Provencio said.
“I look forward to learning alongside leaders from across the country while bringing those insights back to create meaningful opportunities for our students and community.”
Since its inception, the program has advanced the careers of diverse leaders across a wide range of higher education institutions, demonstrating the program's value in expanding opportunities at the highest levels of college and university administration.
Provencio’s participation is fully funded through a $10,000 scholarship provided by Capital One.
Founded in 1986, the HACU represents more than 500 colleges and universities in the U.S., Latin America and Spain, as well as U.S. school districts. HACU programs and services are available to all students, faculty and staff at HACU-member institutions.
