The University of Central Oklahoma’s College of Mathematics and Science (CMS) will host the EPIIC@UCO: Oklahoma STEM Summit, supported through the National Science Foundation’s Enabling Partnerships to Increase Innovation Capacity (EPIIC) grant, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Thursday, March 26, in the Nigh University Center located on Central’s campus.

The full-day summit will bring together faculty researchers, students, industry leaders and community partners from across Oklahoma to explore collaboration and innovation in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). The event is designed to strengthen partnerships while highlighting emerging research and workforce opportunities in STEM fields.

“This summit is an opportunity to connect people who are shaping the future of STEM in Oklahoma,” said Evan Lemley, Ph.D., interim dean of CMS at UCO.

“By bringing together educators, researchers, students and industry partners, we can strengthen the collaborations needed to drive innovation and build a competitive workforce.”

Through the EPIIC grant, UCO and partner universities are developing a national model for workforce innovation, industry collaboration and increased regional impact of research by expanding STEM partnerships, strengthening innovation pipelines and creating new opportunities for students and professionals across Oklahoma.

Summit programming includes keynote presentations, interdisciplinary breakout sessions, student research presentations and panel discussions. Attendees will also have multiple opportunities to network and explore potential partnerships that support innovation and workforce development across Oklahoma.

Community members, educators, industry professionals and students interested in STEM innovation are encouraged to attend.

About University of Central Oklahoma

The University of Central Oklahoma is a campus community in motion—leading, innovating and creating transformative learning opportunities that foster success for our students. As Oklahoma’s largest metropolitan university, we provide high-quality, nationally recognized programs that are always evolving and adapting to the needs of our students and the community. This commitment is rooted in our founding in 1890 as the state’s teacher’s college, training those who would educate the next generation of leaders and innovators. We remain dedicated to offering an accessible, affordable education, earning national accolades for social mobility, veterans’ outreach and first-generation student programs.

Guided by the motto “ubi motus est” – which translates to “where movement is” – the university continues to evolve and grow, offering 119 undergraduate and 81 graduate programs to our more than 12,000 students from our main campus in Edmond, Oklahoma, and facilities throughout the Oklahoma City metro. Our colors were the first adopted of any university in the state, and our Bronze and Blue symbolize our greatest strengths—the illumination of new ideas and the endless expanse of a clear sky above. At UCO, anything is possible.

The university is governed by the Regional University System of Oklahoma Board of Regents and accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
