UCO to Celebrate Women’s History Month with Series of Events

The University of Central Oklahoma will celebrate Women’s History Month throughout March with a variety of events across Central’s campus.
The month will begin with the Women’s History Month Kickoff from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Monday, March 3, in the Liberal Arts South building, Lecture Hall, bringing together students, faculty, staff and the community to engage in meaningful discussions, highlight women’s contributions to history and advocate for women in education and professional spaces.
“This year’s Women's History Month theme, ‘HerSTORY,’ reminds us that every woman’s journey is a powerful narrative of strength, resilience and brilliance,” said Shatima Bennett, coordinator of student engagement at UCO.
“At UCO, we honor the past, celebrate the present and empower the future by amplifying the voices and achievements of women everywhere.”
Other events include:
- Women's History Month Day of Service from noon-3 p.m., Saturday, March 8, at PeriodOKC where volunteers will help to package menstrual supplies for distribution to schools and organizations.
- Women in Leadership: Panel Discussion from 5:30-8:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 11, in the Liberal Arts South building, Lecture Hall, on Central’s campus.
- Every Girl Wins Day at 6 p.m., Wednesday, March 12, in the Nigh University Center, Cherokee Room, on Central’s campus. A fun-filled game night promoting confidence, camaraderie and empowerment featuring keynote speaker Nicole Maldonado.
All Women’s History Month events are free and open to the public unless otherwise noted. Sponsors and hosts include the UCO Office of Student Engagement, American Association of University Women, UCO Community Engagement, UCO Office of Equal Opportunity, President's Leadership Council, Leaders of Tomorrow and UCO Greek Life.
