UCO Presents ‘Changing Directions’ Fashion Show, Oct. 23
Oct. 22, 2024
The University of Central Oklahoma’s fashion marketing program will present the "Changing Directions" fashion show at 7 p.m., Oct. 23, at the UCO Boathouse at the Oklahoma River, 732 Riversport Dr., Oklahoma City, offering a memorable evening of fashion, creativity and philanthropy. The event is free and open to the public.
The theme of this year’s show, "Changing Directions," explores the compass directions—north, south, east and west—with each scene taking inspiration from a different region of the United States. Attendees can expect a diverse showcase of the latest fashion trends reflecting each region's unique styles and influences.
"The fashion show is part of the UCO fashion marketing curriculum as it gives students a real-world experience in fashion show production," said Joanne Wong, fashion marketing program coordinator at UCO.
"Students collaborate with local retailers to showcase the latest fashion trends for the community."
In alignment with the show's theme, the fashion marketing program has coordinated with Pivot, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to providing educational and vocational opportunities for children and young adults. While admission is free, attendees are encouraged to participate in a ticketed raffle to raise funds to support Pivot’s mission.
UCO’s Bachelor of Science in fashion marketing, housed within the College of Education and Professional Studies, offers a comprehensive curriculum concentrating on apparel, advertising, promotion and retailing. The fashion marketing degree at UCO fosters personal and professional development, emphasizing skills in creativity, critical thinking and communication that are highly valued in the fashion sector and beyond.
