UCO Launches New AI Degree Programs to Meet Growing Workforce Demand

The University of Central Oklahoma will launch two new degree programs focused on artificial intelligence (AI) in fall 2026, expanding opportunities for students to gain expertise in one of the fastest-growing fields in the workforce.
The new programs include a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science–Artificial Intelligence and a Master of Business Administration with Emphasis in AI Management. The additions reflect UCO’s commitment to preparing graduates for careers in emerging technologies while supporting Oklahoma’s growing demand for AI-skilled professionals.
“Artificial intelligence is reshaping the way organizations operate, innovate and compete,” said UCO President Todd G. Lamb.

The Bachelor of Science in Computer Science–Artificial Intelligence will provide students with a strong foundation in computer science while offering specialized coursework in artificial intelligence, machine learning, data analytics and emerging technologies. Graduates will be equipped to design, develop and implement AI-driven solutions across a wide range of industries and applications.
The MBA in Advanced Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning is designed for professionals seeking to apply AI strategically within business environments. Students will explore topics including knowledge representation, search, logic, deduction and planning while gaining experience with modern machine-learning techniques, including supervised, unsupervised and reinforcement learning.
The new programs align with the needs of Oklahoma’s expanding technology, aerospace, defense and business sectors, where AI is increasingly used to drive innovation, improve efficiency and enhance decision-making. As employers seek professionals who can develop, manage and strategically implement AI solutions, UCO’s newest degree offerings will help strengthen the state’s workforce and support continued economic growth.
The university’s other new offerings include a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science–Public Law and Courts, a graduate certificate in Professional Development in Nonprofit Management and a graduate certificate in Addictions Counseling.
UCO is accepting applications for both fall 2026 and fall 2027 admission. For students seeking fall 2027 admission, those who complete an online application and submit all required admissions documents by Feb. 1, 2027, will automatically be considered for UCO's academic scholarships, pending eligibility. Incoming freshmen may automatically qualify for scholarships worth up to $2,000 per year for four years based on their high school GPA and ACT or SAT scores.
