Jan. 12, 2026

The University of Central Oklahoma invites the community to celebrate Asian culture during a Lunar New Year celebration from 6-9 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 22, in Hamilton Field House, located on UCO’s campus. The cultural celebration will welcome the Year of the Horse, a zodiac sign symbolizing strength, energy, resilience and forward momentum, with tradition, excitement and community.
The Lunar New Year celebration is a free, family-friendly event featuring lion dance performances, drumming by Kanpai Taiko, interactive martial arts demonstrations, as well as other cultural performances.
Happy Lemon Tea will be on-site to provide specialty drinks and complimentary food for the first 400 attendees.
“Lunar New Year is a time to honor heritage, welcome renewal and build community,” said Kalvin Gutierrez, a junior finance major from Edmond, Oklahoma, and president of the UCO Asian American Student Association.
“This event creates an opportunity for our campus to come together, learn and celebrate Asian cultures in a meaningful way.”
