UCO Inducts 52 Students into International Psychology Honor Society
Dec. 11, 2025

The University of Central Oklahoma’s Department of Psychology welcomed 52 undergraduate and graduate students into Central’s chapter of Psi Chi, the International Honor Society in Psychology.
Psi Chi is a selective global organization recognizing academic excellence in psychology. Membership is open to students who meet rigorous criteria, including a minimum GPA of 3.0 for undergraduates and 3.3 for graduate students, as well as ranking within the top 35th percentile of their class. This year’s cohort is the chapter’s largest in a decade, underscoring the strength and reputation of UCO’s psychology programs.
“I have seen students grow from hesitant self-nominations to serving as elected officers,” said Heloisa Cursi Campos, Ph.D., Psi Chi faculty advisor and William A. Frederickson Endowed Professor in Psychology.
“They guide their peers as role models and encourage engagement both on and off campus.”
Throughout the academic year, Central’s Psi Chi chapter hosts guest speakers, workshops, social events and fundraisers for psychology students. The chapter has also previously hosted the annual Oklahoma Psychological Society conference.
Psi Chi membership is lifelong, offering students access to a global network of mentors, community connections, publications and exclusive scholarship and grant opportunities. Central’s chapter includes more than 1,850 members representing a wide range of psychology specialties. The organization’s mission is to recognize and promote excellence in the science and application of psychology.
UCO’s Department of Psychology offers a bachelor’s degree in psychology and six graduate programs designed to provide practical, flexible preparation for careers or advanced study, including doctoral training. Students gain hands-on experience through research, clinical activities, creative projects and global learning opportunities such as study tours and international conferences.
