UCO College of Mathematics and Science Hosts Tri-Center Symposium Celebrating Student-Centered Research
May 1, 2025
The University of Central Oklahoma's College of Mathematics and Science celebrated student-led research and fostered collaboration among faculty, students and the broader academic community at its annual Tri-Center Symposium.
The symposium featured 48 student poster presentations, highlighting research from the college's Center for Interdisciplinary Biomedical Education and Research, the Center for Wildlife Forensics and Conservation Studies and the Center for Research and Education in Interdisciplinary Computation.
Henry J. Neeman, Ph.D., director of the Supercomputing Center for Education and Research at the University of Oklahoma, delivered the keynote address titled "Supercomputing in Plain English." His presentation demystified the complex world of supercomputing and explored its applications across various industries, from data analysis and artificial intelligence to scientific modeling and climate studies. Neeman's insights emphasized the transformative potential of high-performance computing in today's research landscape.
"Supercomputing has a profound impact on a wide range of industries, and we were thrilled to have Dr. Neeman share his expertise with our students, faculty and the community," said Evan Lemley, Ph.D., director of the School of Engineering at UCO.
"This symposium offered a unique opportunity to explore the transformative potential of supercomputing in a way everyone can understand."
The Tri-Center Symposium is a testament to UCO's commitment to student-centered research and interdisciplinary collaboration. By providing a platform for students to present their work and engage with experts in their fields, the College of Mathematics and Science continues to foster an environment of academic excellence and innovation.
