University of Central Oklahoma College of Business students Reagan Plank and Scarlet Sturch were named PGA WORKS John and Tamara Lundgren Scholars by the PGA of America REACH Foundation.

Central is one of nine universities across the U.S. to have a student recognized for the award and is one of two universities to have multiple scholarship recipients receive this honor. This marks the second consecutive year Sturch has earned this prestigious award.

The PGA WORKS John and Tamara Lundgren Scholars Program offers scholarships to talented and driven students from diverse backgrounds who are working toward PGA of America Membership through one of the 16 accredited PGA Golf Management university programs.

"It takes remarkable effort and commitment for Scarlet to earn the PGA WORKS scholarship in back-to-back years. We are equally proud to celebrate Reagan Plank, who joins Scarlet this year as a recipient," said Tony Luczak, Ph.D., director of UCO's PGA PGM program.

"Having two award winners in the same year is very special for our program, especially as both are student-athletes on the UCO Women’s Golf team and uphold the high academic standards of the PGA Golf Management program. We are excited to celebrate their success and the example they set for their peers.”

Plank, a freshman PGA golf management major from Owasso, Oklahoma, and Sturch, a junior PGA golf management major from Durant, Oklahoma, were two of 15 students selected for the award. Scholarship recipients were selected based on academic record, leadership within school and community activities, honors and work experience, a summary of goals and ambitions, specific personal or family circumstances, an outside appraisal, active participation in the game of golf and playing ability.

“We are immensely grateful for our partnership with the Lundgrens and the ongoing success of the PGA WORKS John and Tamara Lundgren Scholars Program,” said Don Rea Jr., PGA of America president and master professional and PGA owner/operator of Augusta Ranch Golf Club (Arizona).

“These scholarships not only support the academic and career aspirations of talented students but also strengthen the future of our game and Association. By investing in these future PGA of America Members, we are investing in the future of golf, ensuring it thrives and evolves.”

Central's PGA-accredited program is one of only 16 similar programs in the country. It is the only PGA golf management program in Oklahoma. The program aims to produce experts in the business and game of golf by combining a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in management with a PGA-created curriculum and mandatory internships at golf courses.

About University of Central Oklahoma

The University of Central Oklahoma is a campus community in motion—leading, innovating and creating transformative learning opportunities that foster success for our students. As Oklahoma’s largest metropolitan university, we provide high-quality, nationally recognized programs that are always evolving and adapting to the needs of our students and the community. This commitment is rooted in our founding in 1890 as the state’s teacher’s college, training those who would educate the next generation of leaders and innovators. We remain dedicated to offering an accessible, affordable education, earning national accolades for social mobility, veterans’ outreach and first-generation student programs.

Guided by the motto “ubi motus est” – which translates to “where movement is” – the university continues to evolve and grow, offering 119 undergraduate and 81 graduate programs to our more than 12,000 students from our main campus in Edmond, Oklahoma, and facilities throughout the Oklahoma City metro. Our colors were the first adopted of any university in the state, and our Bronze and Blue symbolize our greatest strengths—the illumination of new ideas and the endless expanse of a clear sky above. At UCO, anything is possible.

The university is governed by the Regional University System of Oklahoma Board of Regents and accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
