UCO Celebrates Campus Spirit with I Heart Central Week, March 24-29

The University of Central Oklahoma’s Student Programming Board (SPB) will celebrate campus spirit and Broncho Pride with a variety of activities during I Heart Central week, beginning March 24.

This year’s theme, “There’s No Place Like Central,” will take UCO students, faculty and staff on an adventure along the winding brick road of Central.

“The Student Programming Board is dedicated to providing memorable events for students, by students, and I am excited to see their hard work come to life,” said Aundrea Jackson, coordinator of Student Engagement at UCO.

“We can’t wait to celebrate the love our students have for our Central community.”

Some of the events include:

  • Swap for Pride, 11 a.m.-2 p.m., Monday, March 24, Blue Tent at Broncho Lake: Students can donate a clothing item in exchange for an I Heart Central Week T-shirt.
  • Lions, Tigers, Bears, Oh My!, noon-2 p.m., Tuesday, March 25, Clock Tower at Broncho Lake: Students can create a free stuffed plush. UCO student ID required.
  • Plunkett Past Dark, 7-11 p.m., Tuesday, March 25, Plunkett Park: Join SPB for a double feature of the movies “The Wizard of Oz” and “Wicked.” Attendees should bring a blanket.
  • Goat Yoga, noon-2 p.m., Wednesday, March 26, Plunkett Park: Relax and unwind as you flow through yoga poses with adorable, playful goats by your side.
  • Big Pink Volleyball, 4-6 p.m., Wednesday, March 26, Wellness Center: Join SPB in supporting BronchoThon, a yearlong philanthropic organization that raises funds for Children’s Hospital Foundation, with a Big Pink Volleyball game. $20 per team, with teams consisting of a minimum of three people and a maximum of six. All proceeds benefit BronchoThon. Register at go.uco.edu/bigpink
  • Silent Disco, 7-9 p.m., Thursday, March 27, Plunkett Park: Put on your headphones, pick your channel and groove to the beats in your own world while surrounded by friends.
  • Ghost Tours, 6-9 p.m., Friday, March 28, Blue Tent at Broncho Lake: Explore the eerie side of campus and hear stories of its haunted history—perfect for those who love a good thrill and a little mystery.
  • I Heart Central 5K, 9 a.m.-2 p.m., Saturday, March 29, Plunkett Park: Enjoy a fun, casual race around campus, with plenty of school spirit and good vibes along the way followed by a Wicked After Party. Registration is free for students and $25 for faculty, staff, alumni and the community. Register at go.uco.edu/I-Heart-Central-5K.
