The University of Central Oklahoma and Millwood Public Schools, located in east Oklahoma City, established an exclusive partnership Tuesday, May 12, offering juniors and seniors at Millwood High School the opportunity to take concurrent courses through the university.

The program is already generating strong interest among students. According to Millwood Public Schools, more than 50 high school students applied for concurrent enrollment opportunities with UCO the day the partnership was launched.

“We are extremely proud to partner with Millwood Public Schools to further the University of Central Oklahoma's commitment to expanding access to higher education and creating meaningful opportunities for students to succeed,” said UCO President Todd G. Lamb.

“By bringing concurrent courses directly to Millwood students, we are helping them begin their college journey earlier, reducing financial barriers and building confidence in their ability to achieve their academic goals.”

Millwood High School juniors are eligible to earn a maximum of nine college credit hours during the academic year; seniors can earn a maximum of 18 college credit hours. Program participants must meet the eligibility requirements set by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education.

UCO will offer concurrent courses on the Millwood High School campus, eliminating the need for students to leave school grounds. Additionally, UCO will provide a dedicated advisor for program participants and cover tuition for eligible participants through waivers. Students will also have access to the UCO Max Chambers Library and the Broncho Education Learning Lab for tutoring.

“This partnership is about access, exposure and opportunity for Millwood scholars. We are intentionally creating pathways that allow our students to earn college credit, industry micro-credentials and begin building their futures while still in high school,” said Monique Bruner, Ph.D., Ed.D., principal of Millwood High School.

“When students can see themselves on a college campus, engage in rigorous coursework and connect learning to real careers, it changes their trajectory. This is bigger than concurrent enrollment—this is about transforming possibilities for Eastside students and ensuring they are prepared, proven and positioned for success.”

The partnership provides the opportunity for additional college credit hours for approved Millwood sophomores and juniors.

Millwood High School students will begin concurrent courses in fall 2026.

The University of Central Oklahoma is a campus community in motion—leading, innovating and creating transformative learning opportunities that foster success for our students. As Oklahoma’s largest metropolitan university, we provide high-quality, nationally recognized programs that are always evolving and adapting to the needs of our students and the community. This commitment is rooted in our founding in 1890 as the state’s teacher’s college, training those who would educate the next generation of leaders and innovators. We remain dedicated to offering an accessible, affordable education, earning national accolades for social mobility, veterans’ outreach and first-generation student programs.

Guided by the motto “ubi motus est” – which translates to “where movement is” – the university continues to evolve and grow, offering 119 undergraduate and 81 graduate programs to our more than 12,000 students from our main campus in Edmond, Oklahoma, and facilities throughout the Oklahoma City metro. Our colors were the first adopted of any university in the state, and our Bronze and Blue symbolize our greatest strengths—the illumination of new ideas and the endless expanse of a clear sky above. At UCO, anything is possible.
